New mobile scanning module

PDF SDK comes with brand new scanning functionality for our iOS and Android platforms. The high-quality rendering comes with some of the following features:

  • Automatic page detection
  • Light flash function
  • Color management
  • Settings for camera captured documents to become enterprise-quality PDFs

Take a look at the video below to see how easy it is to scan documents on mobile in just a couple of gestures:

PDF optimization add-on enhanced

We’ve made some huge improvements to our PDF optimization add-on. We’ve added some of the most requested features such as the ‘Clean Up’ optimization functionality, as well as Flate encoding, form field flattening and more. Optimization is a very useful feature when working on archives and document management systems with large amounts of data where every kb of size reduction matters. This module is one of our in-house core technology functionalities, which means that Foxit PDF SDK provides the exact same functionality and quality as PhantomPDF’s file-size reduction.

Support to add a header and footer

You can now add headers and footers to PDF documents. This means that if you have branding requirements such as letterheads and authorized signatures, footnotes, logos or essential information at the top of your PDFs or the company address/contact info at the bottom, we now have got you covered.

This new feature works similarly well for companies that want to create an archive of all documents with a consistent header and footer to meet industry specific compliance needs. With the newly added header and footer feature, you can enable a fixed size for printing, shrink text, get content position, format, set the font, margin, range, color, size and more. You can save time when creating your own workflows and batch-processes by using a ready-to-go API to set header and footers instead of writing the code yourself.

New form fields in Acroform designer at UI level

With our Android/iOS platforms, you can now add radio buttons, combo boxes and list boxes at the UI level, without having your developers write additional code. This enables you to create your forms with your own preloaded content faster and with more convenience and enhance the professional process of mobile form creation.

Linearization PDF support for web-based viewer

This release comes with a fully revamped loading method when the Web viewer detects a linearized PDF and trigger different events for async loading. This significantly saves loading time meaning faster access to documents for your users.

Additional to the usage of async loading, the preLoadJrWorker worker compiles all the JavaScript code simultaneously to the UI, which means your document loading performance is greatly improved.

Check user permissions now at both API and UI level

A high-level of security is one of the areas that separates us from the competition. Our document-level security is provided by a series of security APIs generated by the UIExtensions project. To strengthen security, PDF SDK for Web now supports checking user permissions at both the API and UI level, so that no external injection, PDF stream or direct call to events can be done to reach a PDF structure data.

Finally, PDF SDK for Web 7.2 also release fully stable AngularJS, React.js and Vue.js projects, provided both in your download packages and separately in Foxit’s Github repository. That means no more exclusively relying on webpack integration for building.

We’ve also updated the documentation of the main developer guides to include newly added functionality as well as the updated JavaScript that we support, as well as enhanced JavaScript instructions. View our updated documentation here.

Beyond this, a number of bugs have also been fixed to ensure that our PDF SDK is the most secure on the market.
