by Conor Smith | June 6, 2019

The latest Foxit PDF SDK is here! Our brand-new update comes jam-packed with loads of new features, enhancements and further upgrades. Read all about it below.

Highlights:

  • OCR ADD-ON
  • PDF COMPARISON ADD-ON
  • PDF COMPLIANCE ADD-ON
  • XFA FORM SIGNATURE UPGRADE FOR MOBILE

OCR Add-on

The OCR add-on for PDF SDK has huge benefits for your document management workflow. The ability to instantly search through content and find/fix errors enables you to have the most accurate file index possible. With OCR, you can recognize text in your scanned/image content and make it selectable and editable text. When it comes to archiving, OCR ensures that your costs are minimized when you go paperless and with the time you save not having to manually search for the right documents. It also comes with its own debugger which is very useful when creating applications to see what needs to be fixed.

New features and enhancements

The PDF Comparison add-on allows you to compare 2 PDF documents and return the difference between the 2 documents. This enables you to easily visualize changes and better manage your documents. You can then decide to delete, insert or replace the text as you wish.

Our new PDF Compliance add-on can help bring your application to the next level. You can use this feature to check if PDF files are compliant with PDF/A standards (ISO 19005-1, 19005-2 and 19005-3). You can also use this add-on to convert PDF files to PDF/A and implements all necessary corrections to ensure compliance.

We’ve been consistently improving our XFA functionality for every release. With the upgraded XFA form signature on mobiles, it’s now easier than ever to sign documents on the go with PDF SDK for Android/iOS. You can also add signature objects to existing signature fields of XFA forms with this upgrade.

Simplify your PDF Development Journey

We’ve made major improvements to annotations in PDF SDK 6.4. When it comes to security for annotations, you can now lock individual annotations and add read-only flags (flatten) to your annotations, making it easier than ever to use annotations across platforms. At the UI level for mobile, we’ve added the ability to select multiple annotations to delete or flatten.

Foxit PDF SDK 6.4 also comes with new JavaScript APIs for the Cordova plugin to import/export annotation data to XFDF and enable/disable annotations.

Beyond this, we have created 3 new sample demos on OCR for Windows, Text Comparison and PDF/A. Check out the new documentation here.

A number of bugs have also been fixed to ensure that our SDK is the most secure on the market. These include rendering speed with signatures, UI enhancements for content visibility for specific PDF files and automatic form field toggling in landscape mode for Android.
